I find the method of taking stem cuttings from healthy shoots and placing them in moist soil very effective — keep them in a bright but not direct sunlight location and regularly mist them to keep the soil moist, which helps the roots develop evenly.

When trying to propagate verbena, I found taking healthy stem cuttings and placing them in moist soil works best. As a gardener in New Hampshire, watching the roots develop over a few weeks makes the process feel rewarding. Even as a seacoast gardener, keeping the cuttings in a bright but indirect light area helped them thrive, and regular misting prevented them from drying out too quickly.

Verbena can be propagated either using seeds or stem cuttings. Indoor seed growing is useful in promoting early growth, and cuttings of healthy stems root very fast when kept moist and warm. Young plants can easily be transplanted to the garden when they have been established so as to increase your garden or substitute old plants.
