I’ve been researching home insulation lately and keep seeing the term “R-value” everywhere, but I still feel unsure about what it actually means in real-life situations. From what I understand, higher numbers provide better resistance against heat transfer, but I’m curious how that translates into everyday comfort and energy savings.

While reading about insulation r value explained topics online, I noticed different recommendations for attics, walls, garages, and crawl spaces. That made me wonder if choosing the right R-value depends more on climate, budget, or the type of insulation material being used.

For those who’ve upgraded their insulation before, did selecting a higher R-value noticeably improve indoor temperatures or reduce heating and cooling costs? I’d love to hear practical experiences and beginner-friendly advice before making a decision for my own home.
