I recently became interested in how museums and cultural collections preserve ordinary aspects of daily life, not just major historical events.

One thing that caught my attention is food. Restaurant menus, advertisements, packaging, and photographs can tell us a lot about what people ate, how food preferences changed, and which dishes became popular in different periods.

For example, I was looking through a Popeyes food menu recently and started thinking about how modern fast-food menus could eventually become interesting historical records. They reflect changing tastes, eating habits, pricing, branding, and the way food is marketed to the public.

Do museums or local collections in your area preserve restaurant menus or other food-related material?

I’d be interested to hear whether anyone here has encountered food menus or restaurant memorabilia in a museum collection.
